课程概述 Course Description

随着中国积极推进国际传播能力建设、深入实施“一带一路”倡议、以及构建人类命运共同体理念,商务沟通环境日益呈现出跨文化特征。本课程以批判性思维和反思性学习为导向,旨在提升学生的跨文化意识和沟通能力。课程将深入探讨文化定义及全球文化类型,并结合真实案例和小组项目,将跨文化理论与商务沟通实践相融合,帮助学生在实践中掌握跨文化商务沟通技能。此外,课程还将引导学生关注当下复杂多变的社会环境,通过批判性反思,深化对跨文化沟通的理解。

With China's ongoing efforts to enhance its international communication capabilities, advance the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, intercultural communication has become an integral part of the modern business environment. This course takes a critical and reflective approach to examine the concepts of culture and intercultural communication, fostering a deeper understanding of interculturality. Through Project-Based Learning and case studies, the course aims to enhance the effectiveness of international business and multinational management by applying intercultural communication theories to real-world business challenges.

Key topics covered in the course include:

  • Definitions of culture and intercultural communication

  • Intercultural competence and the concept of interculturality

  • The role of language and non-verbal communication in intercultural interactions

  • Race, ethnicity, and diversity in the workplace

  • Gender dynamics, with a focus on women in professional settings

  • Intercultural marketing strategies

  • Building intercultural communication capacity and amplifying Chinese voices on the global stage

  • Globalization and the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative

  • Corporate culture and the importance of corporate social responsibility

By integrating theory with practical applications, this course equips participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of intercultural communication in today’s interconnected world.

1.培养学生跨文化批判与反思意识,理解跨文化交际的特性;
2.掌握跨国商务环境下中涉及跨文化的理论、实践和解决问题方法;
3.理解不同的语言和非语言文化特征;
4.了解跨文化沟通的新趋势、中国语境及中国参与。
1. Foster Student’s intercultural criticality and reflexivity to have a better understanding of Interculturality/ IC;
2. Master theories, approaches and practices to cope with the problems involved in business environments;
3. Understand the features of languages and non-verbal languages in intercultural communication;
4. Understand new trend, Chinese context and Chinese involvement in IC.

教学方法Teaching and Learning Strategies
课程采用教师引导、基于项目式学习,课堂讨论与案例分析,与学生课外阅读相结合的教学方法,充分发挥学生的学习主动性。
Teacher guided, Project-based Learning, in-class discussion, case studies and readings before the class.

1.    Attendance is always critical! Notify the teacher that you will be absent as far in advance of the class meeting as possible;
2.    Contact a fellow student or the instructor as soon as possible to find out what you missed;
3.    Preview the readings and prepare to write your points before the class;
4.    Appropriate behavior: threatening and disruptive behavior is not allowed. Cell phones must be turned off while you are in class.
