中西文明对话（1874）

《中西文明对话》是为外国语学院本科商务英语专业（含英法复语班）新生开设的一门专业必修研讨课，1个学分，16课时，旨在帮助学生储备有关中西文明的基础知识，提升学生在未来的国际沟通与交流中具有中西文明视域融合的能力，培养具有国家使命感和爱国情怀的新时代大学生。

该课依照人类文明演绎史分为四个专题：荒野文明、西方古典文明、中华文明、现代文明，以经典著作和散文名篇为依托，采取专题研讨和实践活动的方式组织教学，鼓励学生从源头上了解人类文明演绎史上荒野文明、西方文明、中华文明之间的互鉴、互释与互证的过程，研讨现代文明的冲突根源及其缺憾，探索走向生态文明的路径，实现生命共同体的愿景。

Course Description and Objectives

Dialogue Between Chinese and Western Civilizations is a mandatory seminar course offered to first-year students majoring in Business English (including English-French bilingual class) at the School of Foreign Languages. The course spans the first fall semester with 1 credit and a total of 16 contact hours. Its primary objectives are to equip students with fundamental knowledge about Chinese and Western civilizations, enhance their ability to integrate Chinese and Western perspectives in future international communication and exchange, and foster them with a sense of national mission and patriotism within the context of the new era.

The seminar course is structured around four modules, each representing a distinct phase in the history of human civilization: Wilderness Civilization, Western Classical Civilization, Chinese Civilization, and Modern Civilization. With an emphasis on the selected readings of world classics and essays, the course employs a combination of thematic discussions and practical activities. Students are encouraged to delve into the origins of human civilization and explore the dynamic process of mutual learning, interpretation, and validation between wilderness civilization, Western civilization, and Chinese civilization. The course also explores the root causes of conflicts and discontents in modern civilization and seeks a path towards ecological civilization, thereby realizing the vision of a harmonious community for all life forms.
